Concept
In Buddhism, it says that the five poisons — desire, wrath, ignorance, pride and suspicion are elements, which cause adverse behaviors in this world. As a result, human beings are fighting for resources, money even authorities, causing war, pollution and conflicts to this world. When facing these conditions, people tend to find a religion to rely on to bring them hope to survive in this world. In this painting, the dead bodies depicts the consequences of the five poisons, and the skinny dying man whom carries a lotus representing his faith holding onto hope as in looking toward god to bless the world and save this human kind.
